This role is to support a group of people, or an individual with socialising, arts and crafts, games, and leisure activities. This is undertaken at the ARC, supported by other volunteers and staff.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To offer friendship to the people they spend time with.
  • To support in a group environment with other volunteers and staff.
  • Take part in group activities, bingo, dominoes etc.
  • Assist with assessing risk and reporting progress.
  • To attend training needed to fulfill their role.
  • Discuss activities with the Volunteer Officer (VO) which deviate from the tasks listed in the role description.
  • To follow the agreed activity plan.

Volunteers are expected to make every effort to:

  • Take part in the induction program arranged by the VO.
  • Attend training and support meetings.
  • Meet with the VO for reviews to talk about how things are going.
  • Maintain an awareness of other services that support carers, and use this knowledge to signpost people.
  • Be accountable to the VO.

What skills do I need?

Teamwork, talking to others, listening and socialising. Being friendly and approachable.

Volunteers will need to have a DBS check and provide references.
