About the Women and Girls Health Project

The Women and Girls Health Project is a one-year pilot initiative led by BVSC and Volunteer Centre Bexley, designed to improve health awareness, access to information, and community-led support for women and girls across Bexley. The project focuses on creating safe, welcoming spaces where women and girls can talk openly about a range of health topics—from periods and pregnancy to contraception, menopause, and mental wellbeing. By training and supporting local volunteers as Health Champions, the project aims to empower communities to reduce stigma, build knowledge, and help people feel more confident in managing their health and accessing services.

About the Role

Are you passionate about improving women and girls' health and wellbeing in your community? Do you want to help others access information, support, and safe spaces to talk about important health topics?

As a Women and Girls Health Champion, you will play a key role in supporting local women and girls through friendly, inclusive, and empowering conversations. This role involves helping to deliver drop-in sessions, signposting to local services, and helping to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels heard and valued.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of regular drop-in sessions in local venues across Bexley
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for women and girls to access information and talk about their health and wellbeing
  • Share knowledge on key topics including periods, pregnancy, contraception, sexual health, menopause, and mental wellbeing
  • Signpost individuals to relevant local services and support organisations
  • Help to gather feedback and insights from community members to inform future sessions
  • Promote health campaigns and awareness-raising events in your local community
  • Attend training and support sessions to build your confidence and skills
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the Women and Girls Health Project and BVSC
