Volunteering at The Exchange is a unique opportunity for those with a keen interest in gardening to come and further their knowledge and learn about experimental horticulture in a tranquil setting. It is gardened by our Head Gardener, Selina, alongside a team of volunteers. Designed by Sarah Price and planted in 2021, public gardens of this calibre are hard to come by within easy reach of London.
Tasks are seasonal but include things like pruning, deadheading, selective weeding, planting, training climbers, propagation and general tidying. Some tasks may be on the strenuous side or involve bending down or stretching, e.g. mulching, pruning, weeding. Experience isn’t required and you will receive training for each task, but you must be comfortable working independently and taking initiative where necessary.
