Volunteer Visitor

We are looking for a Check & Chat volunteer to visit a woman we support in Bognor Regis. We always try to match volunteers with people who share similar interests.
She is in her 60s and is a quiet, reserved person who may need some time and patience to get to know you and build a relationship. She enjoys watching Emmerdale and Coronation Street, following Wimbledon tennis, having her nails painted, and perhaps enjoying a gentle hand massage.
This could be a great role for someone with experience supporting people with autism. Visits take place in her home, and support staff are always nearby if you need any guidance or have questions.
In many cases, a volunteer visitor is the only person in someone's life who isn't paid to spend time with them, making your companionship especially valuable.
What skills do I need?
As a Mencap volunteer visitor you will be:
- Friendly and approachable
- Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
- Reliable and patient
- Passionate about supporting people with a with a learning disability.

You will be visiting the person we support in her home in Bognor Regis. If you are successful in applying for this role we will share her address with you.
Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing.
